Cavetown has released a new song about unhealthy coping mechanisms, check out ‘Sharpener’

There’s an animated video, too.

Artists: Cavetown

Cavetown has shared a new animated video for ‘Sharpener’.

Out now on Sire Records, the video was directed by Cheng Qiu, and features a visual representation of struggling with demons and self-harm.

Cavetown explains: “‘Sharpener’ is about unhealthy coping mechanisms, the shame surrounding them, and how sometimes the need for them never truly goes away. But what does change is your self-control, and growing up involves replacing these things with healthier alternatives. Even so, the temptation can feel like a parasite hanging on no matter how hard you try to shake it off.”

Check it out below, and pick up Cavetown’s recent Dork cover after the jump.
