Coupdekat has shared the soundtrack to “the morning after” with ‘Violet’
The Loud LDN co-founder channels Portishead and Björk on her latest trip-hop offering.

Coupdekat has shared her new single ‘Violet’.
Created during a stint in New York, the track draws on downtempo trip-hop influences and explores the feeling of navigating the morning after a night out. Inspired by artists including Portishead, Björk and Madonna's ‘Ray of Light’, ‘Violet’ pairs distorted basslines with lyrics rooted in indecision, overstimulation and comedowns.
“When I was in New York, I was going out every night but I was so focused on making music,” Coupdekat explains. “I wanted to make the soundtrack for after the afterparty.”
She adds: “I wrote the lyrics when I was hungover. I can’t make music when I’m completely fine because there’s no chance of my brain coming up with something unexpected. It’s about that state of indecision and paralysis when you just want to sink into the sofa; the morning after with a comedown.”
The new single follows ‘i still think about the band’ and continues a run of releases from the London artist and Loud LDN co-founder. ‘Violet’ arrives alongside an accompanying video.
