Radiohead guitarist
Ed O'Brien has dropped a new track,
'Incantations', marking the second offering from his solo album '
Blue Morpho', which arrives on 22nd May 2026 through Transgressive.
Serving as the album's opening number, the eight-minute piece weaves psych-folk textures together with guitar contributions from Dave Okumu. It follows the previously shared title-track, which drew on themes of nature's restorative power.
Paul Epworth handled production duties on 'Blue Morpho', an album that took shape over four years during a period O'Brien has described as deeply difficult. Work took place across his Welsh studio and The Church Studios in London - a 200-year-old former sacred space.
A short film connected to the album, 'Blue Morpho: The Three Act Play', directed by Kit Monteith in Wales, had its premiere at SXSW before subsequent screenings in London, Oxford and Paris.
Alongside the single, O'Brien has confirmed Q&A sessions across three UK cities, with tickets available from 10am on Friday. He is also set to join Nadine Shah on a panel titled 'Music Saved My Life' at The Great Escape next month, a CALM-partnered discussion about music's relationship with mental health and wellbeing.
A seven-date European and UK tour, An Evening With… Blue Morpho, will bring together musicians from the album sessions under the musical direction of Dave Okumu. Rather than replicating the studio recordings, each performance is designed to evolve independently. The London Barbican show on 16th October has already sold out.
The Q&A dates read as follows:
