FKA twigs has announced a new album, revealing its title onstage during her set at Lowlands Festival in the Netherlands.
Closing out the final show of her summer European run, she told the crowd: “New music – I am full and abundant and ready to give birth. Her name is ‘Afterglow’. And my labour shall commence next month.” According to Stereogum, the project is titled ‘EUSEXUA Afterglow’ and is reportedly a standalone album rather than a deluxe edition.
Last month, FKA twigs released the uptempo dance-pop single ‘Perfectly’, which is thought to feature on the new record.
Her recent European dates followed a last-minute withdrawal from Coachella and other US shows. Explaining the situation at the time, she said: “I was informed that production did not fill out the correct paperwork in a timely manner for us to have our visas to come to the USA and perform.” She has since added that she would one day share “all the tea that’s led to this craziness.”
Elsewhere, FKA twigs is reportedly in negotiations to portray Josephine Baker in a new biopic, and recently made a surprise appearance with Rosé during BLACKPINK’s first show at Wembley Stadium.
