Gently Tender have shared ‘A Mound A Field’ ahead of new EP ‘This Was Once Fields’
New EP 'This Was Once Fields' is due via TODO Records in May.

Gently Tender have unveiled 'A Mound A Field', the lead single from their upcoming EP 'This Was Once Fields', which arrives on 22nd May through TODO Records.
Marking the South London six-piece's first release since 2023, the EP was put together with engineer and producer Matt Wiggins across various studios dotted around the capital. The tracklist comprises 'A Mound A Field', 'Wild in the Uplands', 'Go Get It', '10000 Steps from the door', and 'The City of the Beast'.
Since their Matthew E White-produced 2022 debut album 'Take Hold Of Your Promise!', the band have undergone significant personal upheaval - navigating the birth of four babies, serious illness including a year spent in ICU, the departure of a member, and two others relocating across the country.
The group now feature former Palma Violets members Sam Fryer, Pete Mayhew and Will Doyle alongside guitarist Adam Brown, with Francesca Brierley and Evie Hilyer-Ziegler completing the expanded line-up.
Speaking about the single, frontman Sam said: "A Mound A Field is the essentially inspired by the beginning of a walk that I did two years ago. It started in Ridge, a small village in Hertfordshire, and went all the way down through the hills of North London, into central and finished at Temple on the north bank of the Thames. The song is capturing the moment when you're walking the open fields and then are suddenly hit with the view of the vast open city, being aware of the changes in emotion, how it changes the way you breathe, and how it compels you to meditate on all life on Earth how it has developed for all good and worse."
Accompanying the single are visuals directed by Maisy Banks. A headline London date at the ICA takes place on 27th May, with tickets available now. Festival appearances at The Great Escape in Brighton and All Together Now in County Waterford follow later in the year.
