Gibson have launched a global search for the original Cherry Red Gibson ES-345 guitar used by Michael J. Fox in Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment's 'Back to the Future', which disappeared during the making of the 1989 sequel.
The guitar, featured in the film's "Enchantment Under the Sea" school dance scene, has been missing for nearly 40 years. Gibson are now reaching out to music fans worldwide to help locate what they describe as the most important guitar in cinema history.
Gibson Films have begun production on a new documentary titled 'Lost to the Future', which will feature interviews with the film's cast members including Fox, Lea Thompson, Christopher Lloyd, and Harry Waters Jr., alongside musician Huey Lewis. The documentary, directed by Doc Crotzer, will follow the search for the missing guitar.
