Green Day to film movie scene at free LA Palladium concert next week

Green Day will shoot a New Year’s Eve concert scene for their upcoming movie ‘New Years Rev’ at a free LA show.

Artists: Green Day

Green Day are set to play a free show at LA’s The Palladium next week, which will be featured in their upcoming movie ‘New Years Rev’.

The performance, taking place on 25th March, will be filmed as a New Year’s Eve concert scene. The band will perform several songs multiple times during the shoot, which is expected to last between 10 and 11 hours. Fans over the age of 18 can register to participate as extras in the filming.

The movie, written and directed by Lee Kirk for Live Nation Productions, follows Green Day’s early touring days before their breakthrough in the early 1990s. Band members Billie Joe Armstrong, Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt are serving as producers on the project.

The film stars Mason Thames, Kylr Coffman and Ryan Foust as three friends who travel to Los Angeles after mistakenly believing they’re booked to open for Green Day at a New Year’s Eve show. ‘The Office’ stars Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey also feature in the cast.

“Van days rule. You will drive all night on no sleep then play a show for 10 kids in a basement of a friend of a friend’s house 50 miles east of anywhere you’ve ever heard of. But you’ll do it again the next day, and the one after that. Because you’re doing it with your bandmates who become your family and it’s unlike anything you’ve ever known. It’s electric. Let the music and mischief ensue,” says Armstrong.
