Emre Türkmen and
Mikey Goldsworthy are returning under their
Human Family guise with
'Switch', a new collaboration with vocalist
July Jones. The track shifted shape during its creation into something built squarely for the club. "'Switch' is a loud and proud anthem," the duo explain. "It was initially a pop song in the style of Nelly Furtado but soon morphed into a dancefloor call-to-arms for misfits everywhere."
It follows '
Loverr', which arrived in February, and leaned into euphoric electronics paired with emotional hooks. An EP is lined up for late 2026, with the project designed around rotating collaborations featuring a mix of emerging and established vocalists.
Human Family is the next step for Türkmen and Goldsworthy, who founded Years & Years before departing in 2021. During their time with the group, they took home BBC Sound of 2015, picked up a BRIT Critics' Choice nomination, and hit Number 1 in the UK with '
King'.
"We're in charge of our own destiny," Emre explains. "We want to collaborate with people we love and respect. That's what Human Family stands for - it's about being part of something bigger, together."
Speaking about the new single, the pair added: "'Switch' is for the misfits, the outsiders, the ones who never quite fit. It's loud, it's proud, and it's made for the dancefloor."
