Iris Gold, the British-Danish artist, has released her new single
'Sugar On My Lips', featuring
Dave Stewart of
Eurythmics fame.
The track, co-written and produced by Stewart, emerged from a personal experience, Iris explains. "I think a lot of people see me as this tiger - very bombastic, very strong. But with this song, I wanted to show the side of me that's just… a girl."
She draws inspiration from the iconic Notting Hill scene where Julia Roberts says, "I'm just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her."
Dave adds: "Iris already has been through so much in her life, experienced extreme highs and lows. I've been around for some of them and witnessed her great strength and resilience throughout. This fun song we wrote is another example of her amazing attitude to life's challenges. The lyrics 'Some stories get started only when the end is near / Not for the half hearted / You have to face all your fears' are true to Iris's story. The first time I met Iris she reminded me of the first time I met Tina Turner."
