Leeds art-pop artist Josephine Sillars has shared a new single, ‘Spend Time Wasting’
It is her second drop of the year, following September’s ‘Bad Dream’, and is released as the concluding record from Come Play With Me, a non-for-profit vinyl singles club that has highlighted a variety of West Yorkshire emerging talent since its creation in 2015. The final pressing is shared with local act, Fuzz Lightyear.
Originally from the Scottish Highlands, Sillars relocated to Leeds in 2020 and expanded her discography with a range of art-pop and trip-hop-inspired singles.
“‘Spend Time Wasting’ is about being anti-grind culture and not feeling guilty about wasting time,” Josephine explains. “It’s really easy to get overly concerned and find yourself working to the bone, and this song is about celebrating wasting time and not worrying too much.”
“We’re sad to see the singles club coming to an end but ultimately we’re so proud of all the artists we’ve worked with over the last few years,” Come Play With Me director Tony Ereira shares. “Vinyl pressing has become a slower, more expensive process than it was when we started and now we can champion so much more new music through other avenues. Delighted we’ll be ending with a bang with Josephine & Fuzz!”
