Kurt Vile has announced ‘Philadelphia’s been good to me’, a homecoming album years in the making
The largely self-produced record arrives via Verve this spring.

A new album from Kurt Vile titled 'Philadelphia's been good to me' will arrive on 29th May through Verve Records. Alongside the announcement, Vile has shared lead single 'Chance to Bleed' with an accompanying video, and mapped out an extensive 2026 world tour taking in dates across North America, Europe, and the UK.
Describing the record as a homecoming of sorts, Vile says: "This is my 'bringing it all back home to Philly' record. I'm treating it like my last record. I put everything into it. It's my best vocal record. It's my best electric guitar record. It's my most organic record, made in the comfort of my own zone."
'Chance to Bleed' draws on Vile's formative experiences in underground music, bringing together guest vocals from Natalie Hoffman (NOTS, Optic Sink), Ethan Buckler (King Kong, Slint) and Greg Cartwright (Reigning Sound, The Oblivians). Cartwright also plays co-lead guitar on the track. The video, shot at Philadelphia's Kung Fu Necktie, includes appearances from comedian Jim E Brown and Schoolly D.
Vile says of the single: "'Chance to bleed' is some new kinda higher energy rager. Recorded with my band of bros the Violators in Athens, GA… and then on down the road to Memphis, TN where we got town legend Greg Cartwright to rip with us (KV lead gtr on the left and Greg lead on the right!) I finished this jam out in L.A. with Rob Schnapf at the mixing board and by then it was flyin, baby. The video is a hoot: I invited my Memphis friends back out for that and there're a ton of other legendary guests so keep your eyes peeled. (Yo, Schoolly D!) Love, KV"
The full tracklist for 'Philadelphia's been good to me' is: 'Zoom 97', '99 BPM', 'Rock 'o Stone', 'You don't know cuz it's my life', 'Chance to Bleed', 'Philly's been good to me', '99th song', 'Red Room Dub', 'Every time I look at you', 'Piano for Sarah', and 'Avalanches of Snow'.
