Kylie Minogue’s new three-part documentary ‘KYLIE’ is streaming now on Netflix.
Alongside the release of the series, Kylie has also shared a new original song, ‘Light Up’, which features in the documentary’s final episode.
The track began taking shape in 2023 before evolving during production on the series. Speaking about the song, Kylie said: “The first phrase of the song came to me as I was thinking about how magical it is when someone who truly loves you can see a world of possibility in you and recognise your potential, even when you’re feeling lost or hurt.”
She added: “I shared the seed of the idea with Chris Martin over the phone, and ten minutes later he sent me a voice note with some chord and melody ideas for those few lines.”
The documentary explores Kylie’s life and career through archive footage, photographs and new interviews, tracing her rise from Australian soap star to one of pop’s defining figures. Directed by Michael Harte and produced by Ventureland, the series also features appearances from Dannii Minogue, Jason Donovan, Nick Cave and Pete Waterman.
Discussing the documentary, Kylie said: “I feel like this documentary is a series of love stories: It's a love story with my craft, with certain people in my life, with my audience, family, fans, music and so much more.”
At the series launch in London earlier this week, Kylie also hinted at what comes next, saying: “I’m excited to take what I do know into the future, to discover what I don’t know…”
The singer paused his residency to honour the Radiohead frontman in London.
