Lizzo has revealed that she and SZA nearly formed a rock band called Pussy Lasers, alongside another undisclosed artist.
The revelation came during a Twitch stream, where Lizzo discussed her involvement in recording SZA's track 'F2F' from the 2022 album 'SOS'.
She added: 'We were going to start a rock band called Pussy Lasers with an incredible other artist who I don't know if she even wants to be mentioned, so I'm not going to mention her'.
Speaking about 'F2F', Lizzo explained that while the track wasn't specifically intended for Pussy Lasers, its rock-influenced sound made it a potential fit. 'I was like, this shit is hard, though... I was like, "Man, pull that Pussy Lasers shit up," and let me tell you something: I sat and watched this girl freestyle the whole fucking song', she said. 'She ate that shit... At the end of it... I was like, "That's the song"'.
Lizzo also confirmed her presence on the final recording, noting: 'I harmonised with her and that's me. That's big me. I thought about that song all the time'.
During the stream, Lizzo praised SZA's songwriting abilities, saying she 'writes the craziest, most insane shit that you're thinking and feeling, but she just finds a way to say it, and she sees it so beautifully out the gate, out her mouth'.
