The Maccabees have announced their first European headline tour in nine years, following news of their recent reformation.
The band will perform across Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands and France this June, marking their first appearances in these territories since early 2016. The shows follow the announcement of their upcoming headline performance at London’s All Points East festival this summer.
Guitarist Felix White says, “None of us thought we’d ever play shows again anywhere, so to be coming back to Europe to play is going to be a really magical thing for us. Hopefully the whole tour will have a real sense of something precious about it.”
The initial seeds of The Maccabees’ return were planted at guitarist Hugo White’s wedding in February 2020, where the band performed ‘Pelican’ together for the first time since their farewell shows at Alexandra Palace. The event, which featured performances from artists including Adele, Florence + The Machine and Jamie T, marked the first time the band had reunited since their split.
The Maccabees – comprising Orlando Weeks, Felix and Hugo White, Rupert Jarvis and Sam Doyle – released four studio albums during their initial run, including their debut ‘Colour It In’ and their first number one record ‘Marks To Prove It’.
