Trio gear up for debut album 'Role Model Hermit' with biggest live run yet.
mary in the junkyard have released new single ‘New Muscles’, the latest preview of their forthcoming debut album ‘Role Model Hermit’, which arrives on 3rd July.
The London trio have also announced headline tours across the UK, Europe and North America for later this year, including their biggest London headline show to date at Heaven.
‘New Muscles’ follows previous singles ‘Candelabra’ and ‘Crash Landing’, with the band describing the track as originally being written on accordion. “We wrote it about David joining a gym,” they said.
The single arrives alongside a new video directed by vocalist Saya Barbaglia alongside close collaborators Luke Grieve and Daisy Ayscough. Filmed in South-East London, the clip features Barbaglia and actor Clari Freeman-Taylor in a staged fight sequence after both trained in Muay Thai for the shoot.
Barbaglia and Freeman-Taylor said: “The fight in the video is real and we trained for it for a combined year (Saya 1 year, Clari 1 month).”
The newly announced headline dates follow a run of UK in-store appearances around the album’s release, alongside co-headline shows with Dove Ellis in Los Angeles and New York later this month.
