Melin Melyn have shared a new single, 'The Pigeon & Golden Egg'

The band's forthcoming concept album tells story of musical mill workers, with extensive UK tour dates starting in February

Melin Melyn have shared new single 'The Pigeon & The Golden Egg', taken from their upcoming debut album 'Mill On The Hill'.

The Welsh six-piece's new track rallies against sentimental phrases found on fridge magnets and pillows, taking aim at empty suggestions like "chin up, man up, live laugh love".

'Mill On The Hill', set for release on 7th March, sees the band blend surf-rock, country, prog-rock and psychedelia. The concept album transports listeners to the fictional 'Melin Village', where six millers work at a mill powered by the music they create.

"Croeso! Welcome, one and all to the magical world of the Mill On The Hill. The yellow mill that sits on top of a hill, looking down on Melin Village and all of its wonderful occupants. Everyone is welcome here," says Chief Miller Gruff. "Don't be deceived, this is no ordinary mill. Our duty is to create music inside the mill for all the occupants of Melin Village, and anyone else who'd like to listen. Because, after all, who could imagine a world without music?"

Formed in 2019 by Gruff Glyn, Will Barratt, Cai Dyfan and Garmon Rhys, the band later expanded to include Rhodri Brooks and Dylan Morgan. The group have already released three singles from the album: 'Vitamin D', 'Fantastic Food', and 'Promised Land'.
