RAYE has scored her very first UK Number One with her hit single
'Escapism'. The track had already made RAYE the highest-charting independent female artist in the UK, having peaked at number two in December, but she has now taken it one step further.
Speaking to the Official Charts Company, RAYE expressed her excitement at the news, saying "We are Number 1 in the UK! It’s the first Number 1 of the year, it’s my first Number 1 in my life. I’m an independent artist, this is sickening!"
RAYE's success with 'Escapism' follows two previous collaborations with Jax Jones and Joel Corry and David Guetta, both of which reached number three in the UK Singles Chart.
Earlier this week, RAYE
revealed the tracklist for her upcoming debut album '
My 21st Century Blues', which will feature a new collaboration with Mahalia, and is set for release on January 29.
