Eight acts have been confirmed as the latest inductees to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, with the 2026 Performer category welcoming
Oasis,
Wu-Tang Clan,
Joy Division /
New Order,
Iron Maiden,
Phil Collins,
Billy Idol,
Sade and
Luther Vandross.
A panel comprising more than 1,200 artists, historians and industry professionals whittled down 17 nominees to determine the final selection. A record-breaking six British acts feature among this year's honourees, surpassing the previous high of five set in 2019 when Radiohead, The Cure, Def Leppard, Roxy Music and The Zombies all entered.
For Wu-Tang Clan and Luther Vandross, 2026 represented their debut on the ballot. Billy Idol and Sade had each been nominated once before, and Iron Maiden received their third nod in total. Phil Collins, meanwhile, already entered the Hall as part of Genesis back in 2010 but appeared as a solo artist for the first time this year.
After unsuccessful nominations in both 2024 and 2025, Oasis have finally secured their place at the third attempt. Liam Gallagher marked the occasion on X/Twitter, writing: "I wanna thank all the people who voted for us it's a real honour ever since I was a little kid and singing in the shower I'd dream about 1 day being in the RnR hall of fame it's true what they say anything is possible if you have a dream LG x."
The singer's tone has shifted considerably since the band's initial nomination. Back in 2024, he wrote: "Fuck the Rock n Roll hall of fame its full of BUMBACLARTS", calling the whole thing "a load of bollox" and urging people not to vote. The following year brought more of the same, with Gallagher branding the Rock Hall "for WANKERS" — though he conceded to one enquiring fan that if Oasis did get in, he would "Obv go and say it's the best thing EVER."
Brother Noel Gallagher addressed the prospect in a 2017 Rolling Stone interview. Asked whether Oasis deserved induction, he replied: "I certainly think I do." He added: "I know what it is [the Hall Of Fame]. I know what it entails and it won't be happening, OK?" before noting: "They showed me all these exhibits of Oasis stuff. It's a great place, but I don't be doing it."
Beyond the Performer category, Fela Kuti, Gram Parsons, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte and Celia Cruz receive the Early Influence Award. Rick Rubin, Linda Creed, Arif Mardin and Jimmy Miller are recognised under Musical Excellence, while Ed Sullivan receives the Ahmet Ertegun Award posthumously.
New Edition, Mariah Carey, Ms Lauryn Hill, INXS, P!nk, Jeff Buckley, The Black Crowes and Shakira were all among the 17 nominees but did not progress to the final list.
The induction ceremony is scheduled for 14th November at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with a recording set to air during December on ABC and Disney+.
