Rostam has shared live takes on ‘Like a Spark’ and Vampire Weekend’s ‘Young Lion’
The recordings preview his forthcoming concert film and third studio album 'American Stories'.

Two new live recordings have been released by Rostam, featuring reworked versions of 'Like a Spark' and 'Young Lion'. Both tracks were captured at the legendary Sound City Studio A, where artists including Nirvana, Fleetwood Mac, and Tom Petty have previously recorded.
While 'Like a Spark' opens his forthcoming third studio album 'American Stories', 'Young Lion' originated during Vampire Weekend's 'Contra' sessions before becoming the closing song on 2013's 'Modern Vampires of the City'.
Speaking about this new version of the song, Rostam said: "The piano melody in 'Young Lion' was always inspired by the Persian music I grew up with. In this version that line passes from Jack's piano, to my guitar, and then finally to Amir on Saz. I love that this melody can live all these different lives inside this one song."
These recordings preview 'American Stories: A Concert Film', directed by Antony Muse, which documents an eight-song performance at the studio. Rostam furnished the space with items from his own living room and studio for the shoot.
The concert film will receive advance screenings at Anthology Film Archives in New York on 5th May and Brain Dead Studios in Los Angeles on 11th May, with each event followed by a Q&A featuring Rostam and Muse, plus a live performance. Tickets go on sale at noon local time on 3rd April.
