Spiritbox's Courtney LaPlante explains her Grammy red carpet Poppy mix-up response
Spiritbox's Courtney LaPlante has addressed her recent viral GRAMMY red carpet interview where she was mistakenly identified as Poppy.

Speaking on Instagram Live, the current Dork cover star revealed she drew inspiration from a previous Charli XCX interview skit where the pop star was incorrectly credited with writing Lorde's 'Royals'.

"I was like, 'Don't say anything too crazy,'" LaPlante explained of the moment she was introduced as Poppy. "Because I don't know Poppy and Knocked Loose well enough to go crazy on it, you know? I'm like, 'What if they don't like this? What if they feel like I'm mocking their achievements?' Because I wasn't. I was just like, 'I think this is very funny.'"

She continued: "It reminded me of [when] Charli XCX was doing an interview and someone was like, 'What was it like writing the song Royals?' or something like that. And then instead of being all shitty about it, she just talked about writing Royals, and what that's like being a teenager from New Zealand. So I took that as my inspiration, and I think everyone left happy, right? We got promotion of Poppy and Knocked Loose in there, I slipped a little Spiritbox and Courtney in there, too."

Spiritbox are set to release their new album 'Tsunami Sea' via Pale Chord in partnership with Rise Records. The record follows their 2021 album 'Eternal Blue'.
