vegas water taxi announce new EP ‘long time caller’ with single ‘chateau photo’

Produced with Louis Milburn, the release follows a vinyl-reissued 2023 debut.

London-based slacker-country outfit vegas water taxi are set to release new EP ‘long time caller’ on 3rd October via PNKSLM Recordings, introduced by a new single ‘chateau photo’ alongside a self-directed video.

Frontman Ben Hambro leads the track’s narrative focus, with the video following him as he is exiled from a surreal house party. The single reflects Hambro’s stated aim when starting vegas water taxi to write songs “as honest and as painful as they need to be”.

Hambro says of the track: “This song is about the moment of realisation that you’ve been replaced or excommunicated from a social group after a break up. Obviously it happened when I saw a photo on instagram. It’s a bit of a double edged sword – it obviously hurts quite a lot, but there’s a sense of freedom that comes with it as well. It’s also just part of life, friends come and go, and often come back into your life again. Musically I think I was aiming for Oasis meets Silver Jews – think we nailed it.”

Produced with Folly Group’s Louis Milburn, ‘long time caller’ features bandmates Fred Lawton (bass/guitar), Charlie Meyrick (drums/guitar) and Molly Shields (backing vocals), with contributions from Rhodri Brooks (pedal steel) and Holly Carpenter (violin). The EP follows their 2023 debut album ‘things are gonna be alright’, continuing the band’s country-laced indie rock with a distinctly British slant.
