Weezer are working on new albums inspired by Elliott Smith, Franz Ferdinand and… erm… Weezer?

The four new records are themed by the four seasons, apparently.

Fresh from releasing their surprise new album ‘OK Human’, Weezer are already working on new material. Or rather, four new records.

Not including the already announced ‘Van Weezer’ – set for release on 7th May – the band are planning four albums ‘inspired’ by four other artists, each corresponding to one of the four seasons.

Frontman Rivers Cuomo has already revealed that one – the winter record – will be inspired by the legendary Elliott Smith, while autumn will be influenced by Franz Ferdinand. Obviously. Why not?

Now, after being asked on the Kyle Meredith With… podcast, Weezer’s guitarist and keyboard player Brian Bell has let slip that one of the other two will be inspired by, erm, Weezer?

“A Weezer-inspired Weezer album,” he explained. “We sometimes refer to ‘Island In The Sun’ as a sound, as a thing.”

The fourth album inspiration hasn’t been revealed. Maybe we can make suggestions? Little Mix, please.
