About Architects
Architects are an English metalcore band from Brighton, East Sussex, formed in 2004 by twin brothers Dan and Tom Searle. The band includes Dan Searle on drums, Sam Carter on vocals, Alex Dean on bass, and Adam Christianson on guitar. They have been signed to Epitaph Records since 2013. Their early sound was characterized by coarse, chaotic, and rhythmically complex music influenced by bands such as The Dillinger Escape Plan. In 2011, they shifted towards a more melodic post-hardcore style with the album The Here and Now, which alienated some fans. They returned to their original style with the 2012 album Daybreaker, combining melody with technical harshness and incorporating more politicized lyrics. Their sixth album, Lost Forever // Lost Together, released in 2014, received critical acclaim and achieved lasting popularity. In 2016, guitarist and principal songwriter Tom Searle died after three years of living with skin cancer, leaving Dan Searle as the only remaining original member.
