About Arctic Monkeys
Arctic Monkeys are an English rock band formed in Sheffield in 2002. The band consists of lead singer and guitarist Alex Turner, drummer Matt Helders, guitarist Jamie Cook, and bassist Nick O'Malley, who replaced original bassist Andy Nicholson in 2006. They gained early recognition through the Internet during the "blog rock" era, which influenced how new bands were promoted. Their debut album, 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not' (2006), topped the UK Albums Chart and became the fastest-selling debut album in British chart history at the time. It received the Brit Award for Best British Album in 2007 and is considered one of the greatest debut albums. Their second album, 'Favourite Worst Nightmare' (2007), also won the Brit Award for Best British Album in 2008. Subsequent albums, 'Humbug' (2009) and 'Suck It and See' (2011), received positive but less enthusiastic reviews. The band achieved international success with their fifth album, 'AM' (2013), which included the hit single "Do I Wanna Know?".
Major music artists including Arctic Monkeys, Taylor Swift and Noel Gallagher donate signed memorabilia to Teenage Cancer Trust's Christmas auction.
