About Ari Lennox
Ari Lennox, born Courtney Shanade Salter on March 26, 1991, is an American R&B singer-songwriter from Washington, D.C. She signed with J. Cole's Dreamville Records in 2015, becoming the label's first female artist. She gained recognition following the release of her second EP and major label debut, Pho, in 2016. In the same year, she appeared uncredited on J. Cole's song "Change." Her debut album, Shea Butter Baby, was released in 2019 and received positive critical and commercial responses. Lennox contributed to the Dreamville compilation albums Revenge of the Dreamers II (2015) and Revenge of the Dreamers III (2019), the latter debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 and earning a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album. Her 2021 single, "Pressure," marked her first entry on the Billboard Hot 100. She released her second album, Age/Sex/Location, in 2022. Additionally, her guest appearance on Summer Walker's song "Unloyal" reached the top 50 on the Billboard Hot 100.
