About Field Music
Field Music is an English rock band from Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, formed in 2004. The band’s core members are brothers David Brewis and Peter Brewis. Andrew Moore was the original keyboard player. The line-up has at times included members of Maxïmo Park and The Futureheads. The band has been noted as one of the few to remain active beyond the mid-2000s indie guitar band surge. Music blog The Fantastic Hope described them as "a truly artful proposition in the pseudo-filled landscape of contemporary Brit art-rock," attributing this in part to their "un-self-conscious anti-fashion stance" and their "wayward pop from the fringes of academia." Critics have compared their music to artists such as Steely Dan, XTC, Prefab Sprout, Peter Gabriel, Scritti Politti, Talking Heads, and Todd Rundgren. Field Music has received a Mercury Prize nomination.
The album marks a sonic shift for the Sunderland brothers, blending synthesized textures with their signature sound.
