About Hamilton Leithauser
Hamilton Leithauser is an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He is best known as the lead vocalist of the indie rock band The Walkmen, with whom he recorded seven studio albums from 2000 to 2014. Before forming The Walkmen, Leithauser and bass guitarist and organist Peter Matthew Bauer were members of The Recoys. He was born and raised in Washington, D.C., and has lived in New York City since the 1990s. In 2014, Leithauser began a solo career, releasing his debut album, Black Hours, which was written and recorded with his Walkmen bandmate Paul Maroon. In 2016, he collaborated with Rostam Batmanglij on the album I Had a Dream That You Were Mine, which received critical acclaim. His most recent record, This Side of the Island, was released in 2025.
