About MJ Lenderman
Mark Jacob Lenderman, born February 4, 1999, is an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist known as MJ Lenderman and Jake Lenderman. His music has been characterized as indie rock and alternative country. Lenderman is a member of the band Wednesday, with whom he has recorded four studio albums: Twin Plagues (2021), Mowing the Leaves Instead of Piling 'Em Up (2022), Rat Saw God (2023), and Bleeds (2025). He stepped back from live performances in 2025 to focus on his solo career and is currently a non-touring member of the band. His solo work includes the albums Boat Songs (2022) and Manning Fireworks (2024), both of which received critical acclaim. During live shows, Lenderman is accompanied by his backing band the Wind, which features Landon George, Jon Samuels, Xandy Chelmis, Ethan Baechtold, and Colin Miller. Katie Crutchfield of Waxahatchee described him as one of her "most trusted collaborators," and he contributed to Waxahatchee's sixth studio album, Tigers Blood (2024). In 2025, Lenderman joined Crutchfield's band Snocaps, releasing a self-titled album in October of that year.
He played his final live show with the group in Japan earlier this year.
