About Skrillex
Sonny John Moore, known professionally as Skrillex, is an American DJ, record producer, singer, and musician. He was born on January 15, 1988, and was raised in Northeast Los Angeles and Northern California. Moore began his music career in 2004 as the lead vocalist of the post-hardcore band From First to Last. He recorded two studio albums with the band, Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has a Bodycount (2004) and Heroine (2006), before leaving in 2007 to pursue a solo career. He started touring as a solo artist in late 2007 and later recruited a new band lineup. Moore participated in the Alternative Press Tour and appeared on the cover of Alternative Press's "100 Bands You Need to Know" issue. In 2009, he released the extended play Gypsyhook. Although his debut studio album, Bells, was scheduled to be recorded with producer Noah Shain, its release was canceled. Moore began performing under the name Skrillex and released the dubstep EP, My Name Is Skrillex, in 2010 as a free download on MySpace.
