About St. Vincent
St. Vincent, the stage name of Anne Erin Clark, was born on September 28, 1982. She is an American musician, singer, and songwriter known for her guitar playing, which has been praised for its melodic style and use of distortion. Publications have listed her among the best guitarists of the 21st century, and Rolling Stone ranked her the 26th-greatest guitarist of all time in 2023. Clark was raised in Dallas and began her music career as a member of the choral rock band the Polyphonic Spree. She also played in Sufjan Stevens' touring band before forming her own band in 2006. Her debut solo album, Marry Me, was released in 2007, followed by Actor in 2009 and Strange Mercy in 2011. In 2012, she released Love This Giant, an album made with David Byrne of Talking Heads. Her fourth album, St. Vincent (2014), received widespread critical acclaim and was named album of the year by several publications. She collaborated with producer Jack Antonoff on Masseduction (2017) and Daddy's Home (2021), and she self-produced her seventh studio album, All Born Screaming, in 2024.
It features nineteen tracks captured with Jules Buckley's 60-piece orchestra at the BBC Proms.
