About Youth Lagoon
Trevor Powers, born on March 18, 1989, is an American musician from Boise, Idaho, who performs under the stage name Youth Lagoon. His music has been described as "noir rock" and often features lyrical themes related to rural noir, drug use, spirituality, family, and fantasy. It includes elements of neo-psychedelia, pop, Americana, electronic, and experimental music. Powers was active as Youth Lagoon from 2010 to 2016, releasing three studio albums: The Year of Hibernation (2011), Wondrous Bughouse (2013), and Savage Hills Ballroom (2015). He announced his retirement from the project after this period. In 2018, he returned to music releasing two studio albums under his own name. In 2022, he revived the Youth Lagoon moniker. His fourth Youth Lagoon album, Heaven Is a Junkyard, was released in 2023 in collaboration with producer Rodaidh McDonald and received widespread critical acclaim. This was followed by Rarely Do I Dream in 2025, which also garnered critical praise and features lyrical content rooted in boyhood memoir and old-world folklore, incorporating samples from home movies.
Youth Lagoon announces new album inspired by childhood home videos, featuring lead single 'Speed Freak' and upcoming North American tour.
