About This Track

The title track from Min Yoongi's first solo mixtape arrives as a confrontational statement of intent, built over a heavy backbeat sampled from James Brown's 'It's a Man's Man's Man's World'. Agust D is one of the stage names of the South Korean rapper, composer and producer also known as SUGA, the lead rapper of BTS. Here he raps charismatically about his success in the Korean music industry, spelling out his alias letter by letter in a chorus that doubles as a taunt.

The verses move between English and Korean, Yoongi positioning himself against complacent peers and dismissive critics alike. He references a gruelling international schedule that spans Paris, New York, Brazil and Hong Kong, the rapid-fire delivery earning the self-bestowed label 'tongue technology'. The bridge shifts tone briefly, offering mock apologies for outpacing competitors, before the final chorus reasserts the same uncompromising stance.

The track functions as both introduction and challenge, Yoongi stepping outside the K-pop category he describes as too small to contain him. The production stays sparse and confrontational, the James Brown sample anchoring a performance that refuses to soften its edges.

"Agust D" is a track by Agust D, from the album Agust D, released 15th August 2016. Full lyrics are available below.

[Verse 1]

They call me new thang

(Oh, yeah)

Whole world, concert

Asiana Asia (Asia)

You could be my new thang

(Oh, yeah)

My seat is business

넌 economy 평생 내 뒤지 kissing my ass

Billboard (Billboard)

Brazil to New York

꽤 쉴 틈 없는 내 passport

[Chorus]

A to the G, to the U, to the S-T-D

I'm D-boy (What), because I'm from D

난 미친놈 beat 위의 lunatic

Rap으로 Hong-Kong을 보내는 my tongue technology (Ayy, ayy, ayy)

(What, what, what, what, what, what) A to the G, to the U, to the S-T-D

(What, what, what, what, what, what) A to the G, to the U, to the S-T-D

(What, what, what, what, what, what) A to the G, to the U, to the S-T-D

Hong-Kong을 보내는 my tongue technology (Let's go)

[Verse 2]

'Cause I'm busy, I'm busy 24/7

Paris to New York, damn

쉴 틈 없는 내 schedule (Turn it, ah)

Hong-Kong을 보내는 my tongue technology (Turn it, turn it)

[Bridge]

I'm sorry,

I'm sorry,

I'm sorry,

I'm sorry,

(Turn it, turn it)

Hong-Kong을 보내는 my tongue technology (Turn it, turn it)

[Outro]

A to the G, to the U, to the S-T-D

I'm D-boy (What), because I'm from D

난 미친놈 beat 위의 lunatic

Rap으로 Hong-Kong을 보내는 my tongue technology (Ayy, ayy, ayy; turn it, turn it)

(What, what, what, what, what, what) A to the G, to the U, to the S-T-D

(What, what, what, what, what, what) A to the G, to the U, to the S-T-D

(What, what, what, what, what, what) A to the G, to the U, to the S-T-D

Hong-Kong을 보내는 my tongue technology (Turn it, turn it)
