About This Track

'Stop' by Alex G is a 2011 track from the album 'Winner'. The lyrics are a volatile, self-lacerating plea, with the singer returning to the idea that “You hurt me”, while also wanting to be recast as a baby and a plaything. Alongside the desire to provoke hate, there is a strained wish to shift blame, as if control can be won by turning humiliation into a role. The result is intimate and uncomfortable, less a call for rescue than a negotiation with pain, and a refusal to let the other person’s hurt stay simple.
