Alexander Giannascoli, born February 3, 1993, is an American musician, producer, and singer-songwriter known by his stage names Alex G and formerly (Sandy) Alex G. He began his music career playing in local bands before pursuing a solo career. At age 17, he started releasing music independently, initially through DIY self-releases on Bandcamp. His first album under the name Alex G was released in 2010. His early works, including Rules and Trick (2012), were reissued by Lucky Number. His debut label album, DSU, was released in 2014 on Orchid Tapes and received critical acclaim. In 2015, he signed with Domino Recording Company and released his sixth studio album, Beach Music. This was followed by Rocket in 2017, which also received positive reception. His eighth studio album, House of Sugar, was released in 2019. In 2022, Giannascoli scored the film We're All Going to the World's Fair directed by Jane Schoenbrun. Later that year, he released his ninth album, God Save the Animals. During live performances, he is accompanied by a backing band featuring Sam Acchione, John Heywood, and Tom Kelly.
