About This Track

'Northside' anchors itself in place and loyalty. Ama returns to the neighbourhood that sustains her, a refuge from the circular thinking that threatens to trap her. The track builds around a simple, repeating affirmation: the Northside is looking out for me. It's a declaration of belonging that doubles as a survival mechanism, something to hold onto when the weight of past mistakes and fractured relationships presses in. The song moves between confession and defiance. Ama acknowledges the damage she's caused, the stress she's inflicted on those around her, but refuses to be defined by it. There's a weariness in the delivery, a sense of someone working through the aftermath of their own choices whilst trying to stay grounded. The lyrics circle back on themselves, mirroring the emotional loops they describe, until the repetition becomes almost meditative. By the final chorus, the Northside isn't just a location; it's a tether to something solid when everything else feels unmoored.
