About This Track
ANTH's 'Hello' is a raw breakup track built around a single question: what would you do in my place? Released in late 2017, the song frames the aftermath of a three-year relationship through the lens of unresolved anger and disbelief. The narrator wakes up beside someone new but cannot stop thinking about his ex, who has moved on within three weeks of their split. His friends tell him to let it go; he cannot. The detail is specific and bitter. He spent five thousand dollars on a ring, only to be accused of lacking commitment. His sister suspects infidelity; he half-agrees, citing the speed of her rebound as evidence. The new partner is dismissed outright ('he don't want you like I want you'), the possessiveness framed as devotion. The final verse shifts from anger to physical collapse: sleeplessness, loss of appetite, the claim that falling in love is a kind of death. The metaphor is blunt, the delivery unvarnished.
