About This Track
Arca sings in Spanish on 'Anoche', a track built around the dream of someone not yet met. The song moves through a night of longing, tenderness and simultaneous heartbreak, as though the narrator has lived an entire relationship in sleep. Arca's vocal delivery carries the weight of that compression; the lyrics shift between past tense and conditional, between what happened in the dream and what might be possible in waking life. The track marks Arca's debut as a vocalist. He has said that almost all of the album's lyrics were improvised, and the emotional directness here bears that out. There is an intimacy to the phrasing, a sense of vulnerability that sits at odds with the producer's reputation for architectural precision in sound design. The song trades that complexity for something simpler and more exposed: the voice of someone learning to sing their own longing.
"Anoche" is a single by Arca, from the album Arca, released 6th April 2017. The track is 3:37 long. It's filed under Electronic. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 1 article about Arca.
