About This Track
Ashnikko enlists Kodie Shane for a defiant statement on bodily autonomy and consent. The track builds around a simple, repeated refusal: a woman asserting that her appearance, her presence, her body are not open invitations for male attention or advances. She moves through the world in a T-shirt, on a bike, in a short skirt, and each time finds herself subject to commentary, proposition, assumption. The song does not ask for permission to exist in her own skin. The production sits somewhere between trap and pop, giving the verses room to breathe whilst the chorus hits with blunt force. Ashnikko's delivery is matter-of-fact, almost conversational in its anger, whilst Shane's verse shifts the perspective slightly, introducing his own swagger and the complications of desire without consent. What emerges is less a sermon than a conversation about the gap between wanting and taking, between interest and entitlement. The title itself becomes a weapon, repeated until it loses all ambiguity.
"Invitation" is a track by Ashnikko, from the album Unlikeable, released 12th October 2018. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 18 articles about Ashnikko.

BitterSweet returns to Poland with a stacked bill built for discovery, singalongs and everything in between.
Ashnikko has made a record that treats provocation as pop craft.

Tonight, Ashnikko proves she is a one-of-a-kind star.

Two years ago, **Ashnikko** announced a trio of shows at London’s Omeara in support of their ‘Hi, It’s Me’ EP. Over those three nights, they were set to play to just under 1,000 people before the global pandemic put a stop to those plans. Tonight, one mixtape and a handful of singles later, Ashnikko finally gets to play a headline show in her adopted hometown of London.
Big, brash and bold, Ashnikko never pulls a single punch.
