About This Track

Banners builds 'Half Light' around the tension between revelation and concealment. Piano flutters beneath his gravelly vocal as he traces the contours of someone unknowable, someone who transforms in shadow. The song pivots on its central image: a half light that obscures as much as it shows, a half life lived in fragments. There is unease in the watching, a nervous energy that tightens across each verse. The chorus arrives as a kind of confrontation. Banners asks what possesses this person, what takes hold in the darkness, and whether they can shed whatever it is that grips them. The song does not resolve the question. Instead it sits with the discomfort of partial knowledge, the frustration of loving someone you cannot fully see, and the complicity of sometimes joining them in that shadow. It is a track that asks its listener to sit with their own ambivalence, neither condemning nor absolving.
