About This Track
'Minus' by Beck is a 1996 alternative track from the album 'Odelay'. The lyrics play out like a darkly comic autopsy of failure, tossing off images of survivors, casualties, and garbage-class degradation, with an insistently hostile street-corner energy. One line sums up the numb spectacle: “casual frown”. A sense of panic flickers beneath the mockery, the warning coming through as confusion when temper finally runs out.
