I had been touring

We had done a promotional concert in Philadelphia at this radio station

And I played the song "Captain Jack" which was a new song

The radio station recorded it and they continued to play it because they got requested by people calling in

"Play that song about Captain Jack"

And it was the most requested song in the radio station's history

And the local record promotion guys, they reported back to Columbia Records

"There's all these people calling in for this song by this guy named Billy Joel

Nobody knows who he is or where he is"

We got the first phone call from Clive Davis

So I had a meeting with Clive, and Clive expressed an interest in signing me to Columbia Records

Well, good evening, we are miraculously cross-town once again at Sigma Sound Studios, and I am Ed Sciaky
