About This Track

'Chocolate' by Celeste is a 2017 track from the album 'The Milk & The Honey'. The lyrics put you in a late-night, heat-hazed mood, with imagery of a red moon and candlelight, and a scene that tips into heavy drinking. The speaker sounds subdued rather than triumphant, yet caught in someone’s grip, returning to the idea of being kept holding on. When the chorus arrives, it frames desire and distance with a simple, physical promise, “two steps to my door”.

"Chocolate" is a track by Celeste, from the album The Milk & The Honey, released 10th March 2017. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 7 articles about Celeste.

Lyrics

Chocolate

[Verse 1]

Creatures of the night

Red moon in my eye

Candle flickers

As we drowned in liquor

Now I won't be so bold

Next time you're involved

[Pre-Chorus]

You keep me holding on (Keep me holding on)

You keep me holding on (Keep me holding on)

[Chorus]

It's two steps to my door

So why are you taking four?

You keep me holding on

Hey, chocolate

[Verse 2]

Sunrise, never mind

Smoke filled room blur my eyes

You fucked me and I felt it

Then you said we never meant it

Whispers to my ear

More words and I'm yours, I swear

[Pre-Chorus]

You keep me holding on (Keep me holding on)

You keep me holding on (Keep me holding on)

[Chorus]

It's two steps to my door

So what are you waiting for?

You keep me holding on

Hey, chocolate

Hey, chocolate

Hey, chocolate

Hey, chocolate

Hey, chocolate
