About This Track

'7th gr8de' by Clairo is a track from the 2015 album 'metal heart'. The lyrics look back at a past school day, with a teen crush framed through ordinary routines like watching TV and watching boys, then shifting into a lost presence, “You’re not here and I’m not around”, and the sense that something has moved on. It is a reflective, slightly wistful sketch of youthful certainty hardening into absence.

"7th gr8de" is a track by Clairo, from the album metal heart, released 15th May 2015. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 20 articles about Clairo.

Lyrics

7th gr8de

[Intro]

Meet me a thousand years ago

A message written on your face, you watch the boys

Play soccer after school

And you swear they all look like tools

[Verse 1]

But I guess it's over now

You're not here and I'm not around

We'd watch tv and see the people 'cross the street

We like the time

Even though we're both hiding frowns

[Bridge]

In seventh grade

Seventh grade

Seventh grade

[Verse 2]

I never kissed a boy

You already told me the story

What was it like?

To be a lie

To be a lie

To be a lie

To be a lie

To be a lie

[Outro]

K-I-S-S, I-N-G

Sitting in a tree

Do you want me, like I do?

Like I do?

Like I do?

Clairo's night at London’s Eventim Apollo is a masterclass in how to make a sit-down show not boring

The conversation pit, an interior design feature for spacious living rooms, features sofas arranged in a U shape facing one another rather than facing technology, for the sole purpose of relaxing and chatting. They haven’t been popular since the 1970s. Tonight, Clairo turns London’s Eventim Apollo stage into one.
