About This Track

'robot boy' by Clairo is a 2015 track from the album 'metal heart'. The lyrics cast a late-night, phone-call intimacy, with the speaker overwhelmed by affection, describing a heart that feels audible and finally “melts” into love. The mood is breathless and earnest, as if a crush has become physically difficult to handle. There’s a domestic, introspective turn too, with thoughts of going home and dreaming.

"robot boy" is a track by Clairo, from the album metal heart, released 15th May 2015. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 17 articles about Clairo.

Lyrics

robot boy

[Verse 1]

It's getting late

Oh, when I call you on the phone and talk until day

You smile at me

My heart melts away and I can't breathe

When no one's around

I swear you can hear my heart beat

I love you so dearly

I think it'll drown me

[Verse 2]

Maybe I'll go home and dream in your arms for a little while

Spend all my years with you

Oh love, I'd walk a million miles

'Till the day I see my robot boy

I'll wait for the train

And rest my brain

All that'll come is joy

Clairo's night at London’s Eventim Apollo is a masterclass in how to make a sit-down show not boring

The conversation pit, an interior design feature for spacious living rooms, features sofas arranged in a U shape facing one another rather than facing technology, for the sole purpose of relaxing and chatting. They haven’t been popular since the 1970s. Tonight, Clairo turns London’s Eventim Apollo stage into one.
