Legendary electronic duo Daft Punk have called it a day
The duo shared an eight-minute-long video today (22nd February), titled 'Epilogue'.
About This Track
A collaboration with American singer-songwriter Paul Williams, 'Touch' unfolds as the most complex piece on 'Random Access Memories', recorded at Henson Recording Studios. The track moves through distinct emotional phases, Williams's vocal tracing a journey from sensory longing to existential doubt to tentative affirmation.
The lyric maps disorientation and yearning in equal measure, the narrator asking 'where do I belong?' whilst cataloguing fleeting impressions and half-remembered sensation. The structure refuses verse-chorus convention, instead building through movements that shift tempo and texture, each section answering the previous one's question with another question until the refrain offers conditional reassurance.
The song featured in the American thriller series 'Mr. Robot' and appeared in the video announcing Daft Punk's disbandment, its themes of memory and connection lending the moment additional weight. A Dolby Atmos version was included on the tenth-anniversary reissue.
"Touch" is a track by Daft Punk, from the album Random Access Memories, released 16th May 2013. The track is 8:19 long. It's filed under Pop. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 10 articles about Daft Punk.
