'Within' finds Daft Punk stripping back to piano and voice, a three-minute-forty-eight pause in the middle of 'Random Access Memories'. The collaboration with Chilly Gonzales, who had previously worked with the duo on 'Daft Club', places the piano at the centre of the track's emotional architecture. Gonzales has noted that Daft Punk were aware of how the keys of each song would contribute to the emotional progression of the album as a whole, and he performed the piano here to accommodate that cycle.
