Daniel Caesar opens 'Entropy' with a recitation from the Bhagavad-Gita, the Hindu scripture's account of Vishnu assuming a destructive multi-armed form. The invocation sets the track's philosophical spine: an exploration of inevitable decay and the futility of resistance. Time moves only forwards, never backwards. Everything freezes eventually. The song traces Caesar's internal struggle between finding peace and the certainty of loss. He questions whether contentment is sustainable, whether ego can be controlled, whether joy can be preserved once discovered. The pre-chorus cycles through surveillance and suffering, grounding the abstract physics of entropy in the texture of lived experience. A sample from 'At the River' threads through the arrangement, adding a spiritual weight to the meditation on thermodynamic inevitability. The refrain settles into resignation: "Ain't no stoppin' that entropy." There is no escape from the second law.
