About This Track

Davido opens 'Timeless' with a statement of intent. 'Over Dem' draws on the biblical David and Goliath story to assert his dominance, a pivot toward introspection from the party-facing persona that defined his earlier work. The track is built around a simple, repeating hook that doubles as both boast and prayer: "Over dem all / If dem wan turn Goliath / I be David for life / Oluwa dey my side." It is a song about inevitability, about the confidence that comes from believing yourself protected. The production, by Yung Alpha, sits spare and focused. Davido's delivery moves between conversational and emphatic, the verses stacked with claims of blessing and untouchability. He moves between Yoruba and English, between the vernacular and the scriptural, building a world where material success and spiritual favour are indistinguishable.
