About This Track

Davido enlists South African singer Musa Keys on 'Unavailable', a track built around a simple, repetitive hook that announces his unavailability whilst dismissing the noise of rumour and speculation. The production, handled by Magicsticks, sits somewhere between Afrobeats and Amapiano, giving the song a contemporary club sensibility that complements both artists' delivery. Davido's verse addresses the toll of fame and public scrutiny, pushing back against gossip with a shrug of resignation. He's human, he reasons, and money is what matters; the rest is distraction. Musa Keys follows with his own take on the theme, framing success as a kind of isolation that strips away freedom even as it brings visibility. The song's appeal lies in its directness and the ease with which both artists inhabit the posture of the untouchable figure, too busy and too elevated to engage with the chatter below. The track sparked a significant TikTok moment on release, with the accompanying dance challenge accumulating hundreds of thousands of posts. The music video, directed by Dammy Twitch, pairs the song's contemporary sound with imagery of natural landscapes and rural settings, creating a visual contrast that underscores the song's themes of distance and remove.

"UNAVAILABLE" is a track by Davido, from the album Timeless, released 31st March 2023. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 1 article about Davido.
