About This Track

Ghostemane and Getter team up on this brief, caustic track from their collaborative project. 'Hack Slash' runs just over ninety seconds, a sprint through occult imagery and antagonism. Ghostemane adopts a persona of deliberate menace, invoking black metal aesthetics and a defiant refusal to be diminished or forgotten. The repetition of the title phrase becomes a mantra, hypnotic and aggressive in equal measure. The production is sparse and percussive, letting the vocal delivery dominate. Ghostemane's lyrics pivot between personal grievance and theatrical provocation, touching on themes of manipulation, resilience, and a studied embrace of darkness. There's a strain of dark humour running through the track, a refusal to be read as sincere confession even when the emotional core feels genuine. The song is brief enough to land as a statement rather than an argument, all blunt force and no elaboration.
